The MSI Modern 14 F1MG is a 14-inch productivity laptop built around Intel’s 10-core Core 7 150U processor. It handles office work, research, video calls and heavy browsing without fuss. At 1.5kg, it suits students, remote workers and small-business teams who carry their laptop every day.
Key Features & Benefits
- 10-core Intel Core 7 150U processor: Two performance cores boost up to 5.4GHz for quick app launches. Meanwhile, eight efficient cores handle background tasks, so Excel, Teams and 20 browser tabs run together smoothly.
- 16GB RAM in dual-channel, upgradeable to 64GB: 16GB is a comfortable amount for multitasking today. Additionally, two SO-DIMM slots let you add more memory later instead of replacing the laptop.
- 512GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD: Windows boots in seconds and large files open quickly. As a result, you spend less time waiting on spreadsheets, PDFs and project folders.
- Full-size port selection, including Gigabit Ethernet: Three USB-A ports, USB-C, HDMI, RJ-45 and microSD cover most needs without a dongle. For instance, you can plug into office LAN, a projector and a USB mouse at the same time.
- Portable, tested build with privacy features: The 19.9mm chassis passed MIL-STD-810H tests for everyday knocks and vibration. Furthermore, a physical webcam shutter and Kensington lock slot add privacy and physical security.

Who Is the MSI Modern 14 F1MG Ideal For?
Students
University and college students get enough power for research, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom lectures and coding practice. The 14-inch size fits a backpack, and the microSD slot works with phone and camera cards. Additionally, the HDMI port makes class presentations simple.
Business and Office Use
The Modern 14 F1MG suits accountants, sales teams, administrators and remote workers. Wired Ethernet gives a stable connection where office Wi-Fi is unreliable. Furthermore, two-monitor support helps when you work with large spreadsheets or several documents side by side.
SMEs and Bulk Procurement
Small businesses equipping staff get a consistent, upgradeable platform. Because it ships with DOS (Upgradable to Windows 11/10), IT teams can install their own licensed Windows 11 Pro image. This avoids paying twice for an OS.
Will It Work With Your Setup?
Does the MSI Modern 14 F1MG come with Windows?
No. This unit ships with DOS (Upgradable to Windows 11/10). You will need a Windows 11 Home or Pro licence. The laptop meets Windows 11 hardware requirements, including TPM 2.0. Linux distributions such as Ubuntu also work on this hardware.
Can I connect it to an external monitor or projector?
Yes. Use the HDMI port for most monitors, TVs and projectors. The USB-C port also outputs video via DisplayPort. Together, they support up to two external displays.
Can I charge it with a USB-C charger?
Yes. The USB-C port supports Power Delivery 3.0 charging. For full-speed charging, use a 65W USB-C PD charger.
Can I upgrade the RAM and storage later?
Yes. There are two memory slots supporting up to 64GB of DDR4-3200. There is one M.2 SSD slot, so storage upgrades mean replacing the existing 512GB drive. MSI recommends using an authorised service centre for SSD upgrades.
Is it good for gaming or video editing?
It handles light games, casual photo editing and 1080p video trimming. However, it has integrated graphics only. Gamers and full-time video editors should consider a laptop with a dedicated GPU, such as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX model.
Is this an AI PC or Copilot+ PC?
No. The Core 7 150U has no dedicated NPU, so it does not qualify as a Copilot+ PC. The Copilot key opens Microsoft Copilot in Windows 11, which runs via the cloud.
How does the Core 7 150U compare with an older Core i7?
The Core 7 150U is a 2024 refresh of Intel’s 13th-gen U-series design. It performs close to a Core i7-1355U. As a result, it is noticeably quicker than 11th-gen Core i5 and i7 laptops for everyday multitasking
