The HP ProDesk 2 Tower G1i E is a business tower desktop powered by a 14th-generation Intel Core i7-14700 processor. It handles demanding workloads such as large datasets, coding, virtual machines and multi-app office work. It suits growing businesses, IT and finance teams, and students in technical courses who need extra processing power.
Key Features & Benefits
- 20-core Intel Core i7-14700 processor: With 20 cores, 28 threads and up to 5.4 GHz boost, it splits heavy work across many cores. As a result, tasks like compiling code, running reports and exporting files finish sooner.
- DDR5-5600 memory, expandable to 64 GB: It ships with 8 GB in one of two slots. Therefore, you can add RAM later instead of replacing the whole PC as workloads grow.
- 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD with extra drive bay: The system boots and loads apps quickly. Additionally, a 3.5-inch bay lets you add a large hard drive for backups or archives.
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and Gigabit Ethernet: You can work wired or wireless, so desk placement is flexible. For instance, wireless headsets and peripherals pair directly over Bluetooth.
- Business security and manageability: TPM 2.0, a padlock loop and cable-lock support help protect data and hardware. This is useful in open offices, shared desks and campus labs.

- Long-term office deployments: A tower chassis is simple to service, clean and upgrade over several years.
Students and Education
- Engineering and computer science students: Compile projects, run simulations and test virtual machines without lag.
- Data science and statistics learners: Process datasets in Python, R, SPSS or Stata faster.
- Computer labs and research offices: Security slots and TPM 2.0 help manage shared machines.
- Note on graphics-heavy work: Integrated UHD 770 graphics are fine for light creative tasks. However, 3D rendering, CAD at scale and modern gaming need a dedicated graphics card.
Will It Work With Your Setup?
Does the HP ProDesk 2 Tower G1i E come with Windows? HP’s comparable Africa SKUs ship with FreeDOS, so expect to install Windows separately. The hardware, including TPM 2.0, meets Windows 11 requirements.
Is 8 GB RAM enough for an i7? It works for office tasks, but it limits this processor. For coding, virtual machines or data work, we recommend upgrading to 16 GB or 32 GB. A second module also enables dual-channel memory for better performance.
i5-14500 or i7-14700 – which should I choose? The i7-14700 adds 6 more cores, more cache and a higher boost clock. Choose it for multitasking, development or data work. For typical office and school use, the i5-14500 model is usually enough.
Can I connect two monitors? Yes. Use HDMI 1.4b and DisplayPort 1.4a together. HDMI 1.4b limits 4K to 30 Hz, so connect a 4K 60 Hz screen through DisplayPort.
Can I add a graphics card? There is a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot. However, the 180 W power supply only suits low-power cards that draw power from the slot. Cards needing external power connectors require a PSU upgrade.
Is this an AI PC or Copilot+ PC? No. The Core i7-14700 has no dedicated NPU. It still runs browser and cloud AI tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.
Does it include a monitor or DVD drive? No monitor is included. HP does not list an optical drive for this configuration, though an external USB DVD drive works.
