Lightwave LW-RP-TM-T40i Thermal Printer

The Lightwave LW-RP-TM-T40i is a direct thermal receipt printer built for busy restaurants, supermarkets and service counters. It prints at up to 330 mm/s and takes both 58mm and 80mm paper rolls. Its water-, oil- and dust-resistant build and order alarm make it a practical choice for kitchens.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 330 mm/s print speed: Receipts and order tickets print almost instantly. As a result, queues and kitchen orders keep moving during peak hours.
  • Water-, oil- and dust-resistant build: The printer is designed to cope with splashes, grease and dust. Consequently, it suits restaurant kitchens and busy back counters better than standard receipt printers.
  • Sound and light order alarm: The printer beeps and flashes when an order prints. Therefore, kitchen staff notice new tickets even in a noisy environment.
  • Adjustable 58mm / 80mm paper width: Use standard 80mm rolls for detailed receipts or narrower 58mm rolls to save cost. You don’t need a second printer if your paper supply changes.
  • USB, Serial and LAN with ESC/POS: Connect to one till by USB or share it across your network over LAN. Additionally, ESC/POS support means it works with most POS software.

Use Cases & Applications

Restaurants, cafés and fast-food outlets

The Lightwave LW-RP-TM-T40i works well as a kitchen order printer. Its resistant build handles splashes and grease, and the alarm alerts cooks to new tickets. However, keep it away from direct heat from grills and ovens, since heat darkens thermal paper.

Supermarkets and busy retail counters

At 330 mm/s, it keeps up with high-volume checkouts. The large 2048 KB buffer also handles long receipts with logos and QR codes smoothly.

Hospitals, pharmacies and ticketing counters

Use it for queue tickets, payment receipts and patient or customer reference slips. QR code and PDF417 support suit tickets and verification codes.

Students and campus businesses

Students running campus food stalls or cafeterias get a printer that handles both receipts and kitchen tickets. Colleges teaching hospitality or POS systems can also use it for training.

Will It Work With Your Setup?

Will it work with my POS software?

Most likely, yes. It uses ESC/POS, the standard command set supported by most POS systems. Still, confirm with your POS provider before buying several units.

Does it work with Windows 11?

Lightwave lists support for Windows XP to Windows 10 and Linux. Many ESC/POS printers also work on Windows 11, but confirm with the supplier before promising it.

Can I use it with KRA eTIMS?

The printer prints whatever your eTIMS-integrated POS or invoicing software sends, including QR codes. eTIMS compliance depends on your software, not the printer itself.

Can I use 58mm paper rolls?

Yes. The paper width is adjustable between 57mm and 79.5mm. The maximum roll diameter is 80mm.

Is it fully waterproof?

No published IP rating exists, so treat it as splash-resistant rather than waterproof. Don’t place it where it could be submerged or sprayed directly.

How does it compare with the Lightwave LW-RP-TM-T30i?

The T40i prints faster (330 vs 260 mm/s) and takes both 58mm and 80mm paper. It also adds a kitchen-friendly resistant build, an order alarm and a much larger buffer. The T30i suits standard retail counters, while the T40i suits kitchens and high-volume sites.

Does it have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?

No wireless connection is listed. For tablets and phones, connect over LAN on the same network.

Important Notes

  • Missing specs: Lightwave’s page doesn’t list product dimensions, weight, power supply, resolution or dots per line. The datasheet is image-based. Confirm these before publishing.
  • Package dimensions: Lightwave lists the same package dimensions as the T30i. Confirm, as the figure may have been copied between listings.
  • Cash drawer port: Not listed on the T40i page. Confirm before claiming cash drawer support.
  • Water resistance: No IP rating is given. Use “splash-resistant” or “water-, oil- and dust-resistant”, not “waterproof”.
  • Certification wording: “FC” is likely a typo for FCC. This listing claims CE and CB only.
  • Operating systems: Only Windows XP to 10 and Linux are listed. Don’t claim Windows 11, macOS or Android support without confirmation.
  • Not an Epson product: Avoid wording that suggests a link to Epson’s TM series.
