Lightwave Lithium Battery (LW-LiFe-10KW)

The Lightwave LW-LiFe-10KW is a 10.24kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery for 48V solar, hybrid and backup power systems. It stores enough energy to run a home or small office through the evening and overnight. It suits businesses, busy households and shared student housing that need all-day energy storage from a single unit.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 10.24kWh in a single unit: The battery stores 10.24kWh, about 8.2kWh usable at 80% depth of discharge. As a result, one unit covers loads that would otherwise need two 5kWh batteries. That means fewer cables, fewer connections and a simpler installation.
  • Up to 6,000 cycles: The battery is rated for up to 6,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. At one cycle per day, that equals more than 16 years of theoretical use. Consequently, you replace storage far less often than with lead-acid.
  • Smart BMS with cell balancing: The battery management system monitors voltage, current and temperature continuously. Additionally, internal cell balancing keeps all cells evenly charged, which helps preserve capacity over time.
  • Wide inverter compatibility: RS485 and CAN ports let the battery communicate with hybrid and off-grid inverters. For instance, it works with Growatt, Voltronic and Pylontech-protocol inverters. Your inverter can then read the charge level and manage charging automatically.
  • LCD indicators and remote monitoring: Built-in LCD indicators show battery status at a glance. The battery also supports remote monitoring, so you can check performance without standing next to it.

Use Cases & Applications

For Business

A 10kWh battery keeps a working office running through an evening outage, not just the essentials. For example, six laptops, a router, lighting, CCTV and a printer on standby draw about 600W together. The battery can support that load for roughly 12–13 hours after inverter losses.

It works well for:

  • Offices and co-working spaces: Keep computers, internet and printers running for a full working day without a generator.
  • Retail shops and supermarkets: Power POS terminals, lighting and display fridges through extended outages.
  • Clinics, pharmacies and salons: Maintain lighting, computers and small equipment during business hours.
  • Solar installers: Build 48V hybrid systems with one battery instead of stacking smaller units.

For Students

This battery suits hostels, shared student houses and study centres with several occupants. For instance, a shared house with four laptops, a router, lighting and a small fridge draws about 400W on average. The battery covers that for roughly 18–19 hours. Additionally, residents can share the cost of one system that serves the whole house.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it work with my inverter?

It works with 48V inverters. However, it will not work with 24V inverters. For full communication, choose a supported brand such as Growatt or Voltronic, or an inverter that supports the Pylontech protocol. Then set the inverter’s battery type to lithium or the matching protocol.

How long will it power my devices?

Divide the usable energy (about 8,200Wh) by your load in watts. Then subtract 5–10% for inverter losses. For example, a 1,000W load runs for roughly 7.5–8 hours.

Can it run my 5kW or 8kW inverter?

This depends on the battery’s maximum continuous current, which is [to be confirmed]. As a guide, 100A at 51.2V gives about 5.1kW, and 200A gives about 10.2kW. Ask our team to confirm the rating before pairing it with a larger inverter.

How long does the battery last?

It is rated for up to 6,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. At one cycle per day, that is more than 16 years. The manufacturer also offers an 8-year warranty.

Should I buy one LW-LiFe-10KW or two LW-LiFe-5KW batteries?

Both options give 10.24kWh at 51.2V. One LW-LiFe-10KW means fewer connections and less wiring. By contrast, two 5KW units give some redundancy, since one keeps working if the other needs service. Two smaller units are also easier to carry and position.

How does it compare to lead-acid batteries?

A 48V lead-acid bank of four 12V 200Ah batteries stores about 9.6kWh. However, lead-acid is usually discharged only to about 50%, so it gives roughly 4.8kWh usable. This single LiFePO4 unit gives about 8.2kWh usable and needs no maintenance.

Important Notes (Merchant Verification Before Publishing)

  • Max charge/discharge current: Not published for this model. The 15kWh sibling (LW-LiFe-15KW) lists 200A. Confirm the 10KW rating and fill in the placeholders in the spec table and FAQ.
  • Package dimensions: The manufacturer lists 54 × 23 × 45, identical to both 5kWh models. This is almost certainly a copy error for a 10kWh unit, so it was left out. Confirm the actual dimensions and weight.
  • Datasheet: The official PDF datasheet is image-based and could not be text-extracted. Please verify specs against it directly.
  • Remote monitoring: The manufacturer says remote monitoring is supported but does not say how (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, app or via the inverter). Confirm before describing it further.
  • Mounting type: Not stated. Confirm whether the unit is wall-mounted, floor-standing or rack-mounted.
  • Operating temperature range: Not published. Confirm charge and discharge ranges.
  • Parallel expansion: Confirm whether the unit supports parallel connection and the maximum number of units.
  • Inverter list: The manufacturer names Growatt, Voltronic and Pylontech. Victron, Schneider and Goodwe are listed for other Lightwave models but not this one. Confirm before adding them.
  • Included accessories: Confirm whether communication cables, battery cables and mounting hardware are included.
  • Local warranty: Confirm that the 8-year warranty is honoured through the Kenyan distributor, along with any cycle or usage conditions.
